Plan is a kinetic structure designed to capture and propagate positioning and force data from one point to another on a surface. Imagine walking on a surface composed of planes that incline in all directions, like seesaws.
In this way, each step taken produces local and global disturbances. In function of the direction and force of your steps and the weight of your body, the plate stepped upon inclines and moves the neighboring plates, such that, plate by plate, the entire surface moves.
The result is a mechanical wave that propagates radially. Numerous users can agency and Interact with the project and one-another simultaneously. For the outside observer, the propagation of forces relative to the actions of the interactor is perceived via the physical deformation and the optic effects derived from the light’s reflection on the metallic surface in movement. Plan is composed of 50 aluminum plates, structured by steel contoured squares. Each plate is raised 10 centimeters from the floor, laterally suspended by 4 steel springs with a central articulation by means of 1 polyurethane bearing. A system of push-in sleeves and rubber contours connect each plate to the neighboring plates.
